FIVE TRUTHS ABOUT JUDGMENT
In 2 Corinthians 5:10 it is written, "For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad." Look at some of the great truths about judgment that we learn from this simple verse. 1. Judgment is for every person – there will be no exemptions. Judgment is something that "we" will go through, "every one" of us. The Bible says so. 2. The Christ will judge us. Where is it that we will be judged? "Before the judgment seat of Christ." The Savior will be our Judge! 3. Judgment is not optional – it is required. Look at the verse again. It does not say that we "might" or "could" face judgment. No, it says that we "must" appear before Jesus’ seat of judgment. 4. Judgment will be personal – according to what each one of us has done. On the Day of Judgment each person will be judged according to "the things he has done in his body," not according to what Mom and Dad or someone else did. Personal judgment means we have a personal responsibility to be personally prepared. 5. Judgment will be based on God’s standard of "good or bad." Jesus said that His word will judge men in the last day (John 12:48). To be prepared for that judgment we must do that which is right and good in His eyes, which means to obey His will (Matthew 7:21-23). -- Roger D. Campbell |
